How to make a birthday card

Pick one of the designs at the top of the page and it appears in the preview straight away. Then add a photo: tap Choose a photo, or drag an image onto the box, and it drops into the frame for that design. Use the zoom slider to bring the face closer and drag the photo around on the card until it sits where you want it. Finally type their name, change the message if you like, and add your own name at the bottom.

When the preview looks right, press Download card. The card is saved as a PNG image at 1080 by 1350 pixels, which is the size WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and email all display well. On a phone you may also see a Share button that sends the card straight to a messaging app without saving it first.

Five designs, all original

• Confetti Pop – a bright white card scattered with confetti and a bold round photo. Cheerful and works for any age.
• Golden Night – midnight blue with gold stars and a gilt frame. Elegant, good for milestone birthdays and for parents and grandparents.
• Balloon Party – pastel balloons around a tilted polaroid photo with the name written underneath. Playful and great for children.
• Cake & Candles – warm cream tones with a three-tier cake and lit candles along the bottom. Cosy and traditional.
• Neon Glow – dark background, glowing cyan and pink neon rings and lettering. Bold, modern, popular with teenagers.

Every element is drawn from scratch on this page, so there are no stock photos, no watermarks and no licensing to worry about when you send the card on.

Tips for a card that looks good

• Use a clear, well-lit photo with the face near the middle. Portraits and selfies work best; group shots get very small in a round frame.
• Zoom in a little. Filling the frame with the face reads far better than a small figure in a big background.
• Keep the message short. One or two lines fit; anything longer is trimmed so it never runs off the card.
• Try two designs. Your photo stays in place when you switch, so it takes one tap to compare.
• Send it as a file where you can. Some apps compress images heavily when they are pasted; attaching the PNG keeps it sharp.

Your photo stays private

The card is assembled entirely in your browser using the HTML canvas. The photo you choose is never uploaded to FestiveHelper or to anyone else, nothing is stored, and closing the page clears everything. That also means the tool works offline once the page has loaded. If you want to make another card for someone else, choose a new photo and change the name; the design and message stay as they were.
